Aurora Marie (Morrow) Walsh

     WALSH, Aurora Marie (Morrow), 85, HERMON & PRESQUE ISLE, at Bangor, January 31, 2015. Spring interment will be in Van Buren at St. Bruno’s cemetery.

    HERMON & PRESQUE ISLE – Aurora Marie (Morrow) Walsh, 85, died peacefully January 31, 2015, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 12, 1929, in Hamlin, ME, and was the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Doucette) Morrow.
    Aurora was raised on the family potato farm and later married her husband, Ralph Walsh, of Van Buren in 1947. They lived in the towns of Van Buren and Houlton but spent most of their time residing in Presque Isle and Hampden. They had six children together and absolutely loved spending time with their family.
    Aurora owned and operated a hat shop in Presque Isle for over 10 years. She designed and created a variety hats, as well as being an area tailor sewing and mending dresses for weddings and business suits for locals. She was always active and enjoyed bowling, cross country and downhill skiing, and especially loved playing cards including poker and bridge. Her other hobbies included square dancing, knitting, and painting a variety of pictures on canvas and wooden art. Aurora was always active in the church and at one time had made costumes for, wrote and directed two plays named “The Road to Calvery” and “The Joyful Mysteries”. They toured with a cast of 21 people for four years and performed at many churches in Maine and Connecticut.
    She volunteered as a Catholic educator, was a Eucharistic minister and was also active with the Daughters of Isabela her entire adult life. She also assisted Ralph in the construction of the grotto in Hampden at St. Matthew’s church. One of her enjoyments was traveling and she traveled on sixteen cruises as well as many trips around the United States and Europe, including several trips to Rome and the Vatican to see the Pope. Above all of these things, the love of her life was spending time with her family and seeing everyone gather together.
    She is survived by three sons, Ralph Walsh and his wife, Noemi, of Southington Conn., Mark Walsh of Winterport, and Matthew Walsh and his wife, Angela, of Hermon; two daughters, Lois Bouchie of New Orleans, LA, and Mary Wilcox and her husband, Tim, of Easton; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Armand of Bangor, Albert and his wife, Alice, of Van Buren, and Richard and his wife, Robbie, of Conn.; and two sisters, Lorette of Colorado and Cecile of Florida.
    She was predeceased by her parents; husband of 49 years, Ralph, who passed away in 1996 at the age of 72; third oldest child, Margaret (Peggy) who passed away in 2011 at the age of 58; son-in-law, Maurice Bouchie; two brothers, Renee and Larry; and five sisters, Janet, Celia, Ann, Sandra and Rita.
    Visiting hours for friends and family were held from 4 to 7 p.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home on State Street in Bangor on Friday, February 6, and a Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Church on Ohio Street in Bangor on Saturday, February 7, at 1 p.m. Spring internment will be in Van Buren at St. Bruno’s cemetery.
