Blaine – Steven P. DeLong, 48, loving husband, father and son, died unexpectedly January 22, 2007 in Bangor. He was born December 25, 1958 in Houlton, the son of Russell W. and Leona (Porter) DeLong.
He was a member of the Bridgewater Baptist Church. Steve served in the U.S. Army as a Ranger for 15 years, serving his country well during Dessert Storm. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver since 1991 but what he enjoyed most in life was spending time with his wife and beloved children.
Besides his mother of Bridgewater, Steve is survived by his wife Paula (Brewer) DeLong; his children, Bryan and Jessica Grew and Russell and Carl DeLong all of Blaine; brothers and sisters, Dennis and his wife Lee of Athens, AL, Jerome and his wife Janice of Littleton, Susan of Houston,TX, Darla of Presque Isle, Diane of Bridgewater, Ann of Winsted, CT, Brian of Presque Isle, Jill of Houston, TX and Julie of Monticello; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Pam Brewer of Blaine; sister-in-law, Lona Brewer of Presque Isle; mother-in-law, Madeline Kinney of Blaine; uncle, Richard Jewell of St Albans, VT; aunt, Yvonne Dearborn and her husband Henry of Bridgewater and aunt, Isabelle Allen of Houlton. Predeceasing him besides his father, was a brother, Mark, a sister, Karen, father-in-law, Malcolm Kinney and a special little girl, Megan Bradstreet.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 PM Friday at the Bridgewater Free Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Relatives and friends called at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. A military committal service will be held at the Smith Cemetery in Bridgewater later in the spring.
