WASHBURN, Maine — Local police are asking for the public’s help in locating the operator of a snowmobile that struck and killed a dog while the owner was walking with it.

“The Washburn Police Department would appreciate any information anyone may have on a dog that was hit by a snowmobile and killed while walking with its owner on Riverside Drive on Sunday evening,” said Chief Roy Guidry, using the WPD’s Facebook page to spread the word.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 22.
“The information we have is that the snowmobile was operated by a single individual and was going at a high rate of speed. The snowmobile was followed shortly by another snowmobile with two riders. If you have any information, please call 455-4043,” said Guidry.
