Easton’s Winter Carnival takes place this weekend

    On Thursday, Feb. 26, G-Force Laser Tag comes to the Elementary School gym. Grades 1-5 will have the course from 5-6:45 p.m. and grade 6 to adults will play from 7-8:45. The cost is $10. Concessions will be sold by Easton Project Graduation.

On Friday, Feb. 27, Easton will celebrate with a community birthday party and game night starting at 5:30 in the Elementary School cafeteria. A great evening of bounce houses, face painting, photo booth, fireworks, pizza, cake and more is planned. Donations accepted towards supper. There will be a cribbage tournament starting at 6:45 p.m. at the Elementary School cafeteria. The cost is $2.
A sliding party will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Kinney Hill (Route 1A) on Saturday, Feb. 28. Please bring a sled and come dressed for outdoor fun. Concessions will be sold by Kiwanis.
On Saturday evening there will be a community potluck supper at 6 p.m. in the Elementary School cafeteria. Please bring a dish to share. Drinks and dinnerware will be provided. A father-son basketball game will be played at 7 p.m. in the Elementary School gym. Come cheer on your favorite team!

Seniors elect officers

The Easton Senior Happy Days Club met on Thursday, Feb. 12, for a delicious potluck dinner. President Nina Trask opened the meeting. The blessing was given by Jean Ann Ames. The 13 members attending were: Annette Copeland, Jean Ann Ames, Sally Strout, Paul and Liana DeMerchant, Hollis Hull, Barbara Bonville, Pat Coffin, Marie Hewitt, Ezalee Smith, Betty Brown, and John and Nina Trask.
The officers elected for 2015 are: president, Annette Copeland; vice president, Liana DeMerchant; secretary, Marie Hewitt; and treasurer, Liana DeMerchant.
The next meeting will be a potluck dinner at the Manor Feb. 26 at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Christina St. Peter from the Professional Home Nursing office. All Easton seniors are invited to attend and bring a friend for a delicious meal and a fun afternoon.

Exercise classes

Heidi from LiveWell United will bring “Cardio Mash-up” to Easton Elementary School on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. starting March 3. The class will include Turbo Kick, Zumba, Power Hour and Dance Fit. Please bring a mat, hand weights and water bottle to each class. The cost is $55 for the six-week series or $7/class. New Song Church

The New Song Church has installed emergency strobe lights in the event their furnace(s) are not operating. If you see the lights flashing, call the Lambs at 551-6223 or 551-6224. They appreciate your assistance.

Craft and vendor fair

There will be a craft, vendor and trash-and-treasure sale at Easton Elementary School on April 11. Anyone interested in having a spot call Melissa at 227-4093 or email crazycountygirl96@gmail.com.

Kiwanis meetings

The Kiwanis Club of Easton meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend. Dinner is provided for a small fee. Please plan to join them.

Wednesday, Feb. 25 — Junior activities, 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall. After-school movie at the Hall from 3-4:15. Grade 5 and 6 basketball game vs. Presque Isle at 6 p.m. at home.
Thursday, Feb. 26 — Happy Days Club at 11:30 in the Recreation Room at the Manor.
Friday, Feb. 27 — Junior activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall.
Monday, March 2 — Senior nutrition class at the Manor beginning at 11 a.m. The cost is $3.  After-school cooking at the Hall until 4:15. Weight Watchers meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, March 3 — Grades  5/6 basketball game vs. Van Buren at 4 p.m. at home. Cardio Mash-up at the elementary school from 5-6 p.m.
Wednesday, March 4 — Junior Activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall. Field trip to BigRock from 3-6 p.m. Grades 5 and 6 basketball practice from 5-6:15 p.m.
