     PRESQUE ISLE – Jason “Roy” Peary, 82, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. He was born in Presque Isle on August, 15, 1932, the son of Sheldon and Margaret (Kempton) Peary. American-Flag-Color
    Roy was a graduate of the Presque Isle School System where he was a baritone sax player in the band and was a member of the FFA. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy serving four years. He was employed by the U.S. Post Office for 26 years, and served as President of the Letter Carriers Union for eight years.
    He was involved in many organizations including the Presque Isle American Legion Ray Goding Post 88 which he served as a past Commander, The Presque Isle Elks Lodge, he was a member of the Boy Scout Troop Committee for Troop 271, Presque Isle, for several years.
    Roy also had his own dance band in high school to fulfill his love of music. He enjoyed singing and ballroom dancing. Roy also sang in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Choir and Folk Group and was a member of Barbershoppers for 25 years and served as President to the group for one. He also enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
    Roy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Thompson) Peary of Presque Isle; five children: Christine Peary, Thomas Peary and wife, Kathryn, Margaret Cray, Patricia and Roger Martin, all of Presque Isle, and Jay Peary of Claremore, OK; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call Wednesday, from 6-8 at Faye Funeral Home, 5 Erskine St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015, at 11 a.m., at The Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, with Father Labrie officiating. A time of fellowship will follow at the Knights of Columbus, Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Peary’s memory to GIFT-Grace Interfaith Food Table, 11 Industrial St., Presque Isle, 04769 or Catholic Charities Maine, PO Box 748, Caribou 04736 (indicate it’s for the Food Bank).
