PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — At its membership appreciation night held March 14, the Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954 honored W. Scott Carlin, owner of Star City IGA in Presque Isle, as its Citizen of the Year for 2014-2015.
In presenting this award, Elks Exalted Ruler Alan Harding recited Carlin’s consistent support of the public service programs of the Presque Isle Elks, including the “Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs” Youth Fishing Derby, the July 4th Community Celebration, Balloonfest Street Fair, Veterans’ Stew Night and the Elks Family Christmas Dinner.
According to Harding, Carlin had, without hesitation, agreed to provide major financial support for one of those programs when previous support became unavailable. In addition, Carlin had supported each of the other major programs, as well as other lodge activities.
Carlin has been a member of the Presque Isle Elks for 24 years.
