MAPLETON – Randolph “Randy” Michaud may be a musician in a small community in Maine, but that hasn’t prevented him from sharing his talent with music lovers all over the world.

For about two years now, Michaud has been working with RhonBob Promotions, a Tennessee-based company operated by Bob and Rhonnie Scheuerman, to bring his music to a larger audience. With three albums recorded and a music video, Michaud is getting international recognition for his efforts thanks to airplay on various radio stations – both traditional and Internet versions. Locally, Michaud has made numerous appearances throughout the County, performing during fairs in Houlton and Presque Isle, as well as numerous community festivals this summer.
One of those methods – www.famecast.com – allows listeners to vote for their favorite artist. Michaud’s been quite successful using this venue to promote his work.
“I want to thank everyone for the time and support in voting for my husband, Randolph, on the famecast.com Web site. He made it into the top 25, with voting now under way for the top 10,” said his wife, Lisa Michaud.
Michaud was honored this year, receiving Album of the Year from the Downeast Country Music Association for his album entitled “Classic Country” during a ceremony in Richmond. The album serves as a tribute to several country legends Michaud has admired for years, including George Jones. Michaud is hoping to renew interest in the type of music Jones and others made popular, bringing music enthusiasts back to the heart and roots of country music.
“Randolph has three full albums, one music video and one concert video released to the world. That’s quite an accomplishment coming from someone here in the County,” said Michaud. “He’s been on numerous country charts around the world, with airplay coming from about 2,700 radio stations around the world.”
Michaud’s work has made the charts with works by the likes of Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley.
“We’re trying to get him to the top five (on famecast.com), so that he can go to Texas to compete for the ultimate prize of $10,000 and the chance for national exposure. We hope listeners will continue to vote for him and his music video, ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today,” said Michaud. “Randolph’s the only country artist from the state of Maine who has entered into the contest. It would be great to get him to the top, as he will be representing the entire state.”
According to Michaud, famecast.com allows each person tot vote once a day now, so votes count even more.
“Votes count more now as the field gets narrowed and the selection process gets harder,” said Michaud.
