Supper to benefit Presque Isle couple

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A Presque Isle couple that was involved in a serious motorcycle accident last August while vacationing in Montana will be the beneficiaries of a fundraiser Friday night.

A spaghetti supper and auction will be held for Craig and Beth Lint from 5-8 p.m. April 17 at the VFW Hall on Parsons Street in Presque Isle.
According to organizer Shannon Taylor, the Lints’ accident occurred Aug. 3, 2014.
“Craig suffered a traumatic brain injury requiring him to be on life support for a short time, and Beth broke her collarbone and hand. They had to spend several weeks at a hospital in Montana until Craig was recovered enough to travel,” said Taylor, who works with Beth at TAMC. “Once back in Maine, they spent a couple more weeks in Portland for further treatment and rehabilitation. They finally made it back home to Presque Isle in September.”
Taylor said it was only recently that the Lints were able to return to work.
“Beth is a registered nurse in the emergency department at TAMC, and Craig drives a truck for Conway Freight,” she said. “As they continue to make trips all over the state, from Fort Kent to Portland for multiple doctors appointments, this fundraiser will help them greatly.”
The supper will consist of spaghetti, rolls, salad, and homemade desserts. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Items that will be auctioned off during the evening include a car starter and installation, wood flooring, and more.
“We’ll also be selling raffle tickets for an iPad Air,” said Taylor. “All proceeds will be given to Craig and Beth to be put toward medical bills, both existing and those to come.”
Taylor said Craig will deal with the effects from the brain injury for the rest of his life.
“They say this is their ‘new normal,’” she said. “Despite all of the obstacles that they have faced, they have managed to keep an attitude of hope and optimism and have never lost their sense of humor. They have shown the kind of courage that we could only hope to have in the face of such a life-changing event.
“They raised two daughters, Katy and Theresa, in Presque Isle. They’re great people and they’ve dealt with a lot, so we’re hoping to give them some support,” said Taylor.
