EASTON, Maine — Through the school year, the Easton National Honor Society Chapter completed service projects and raised money for the state service project, Stop Hunger Now.
In October, the chapter members joined forces with other Easton High School organizations and classes to work for the community during the Heidi’s Hope Community Service Day. Chapter members created greeting cards with elementary school children, while others joined in the effort to record names from each marker and stone in the Estes Cemetery.
Also in October, the chapter sponsored a Super Hero Costume Day to raise funds for the state service project. During the month of December, the chapter held a school-wide holiday food drive for the Helping Friends Food Pantry and sponsored the second fundraiser for Stop Hunger Now.
The chapter welcomed new inductees to the chapter in February. During a morning assembly officers tapped Elise Allen, Blake Bradley, Hunter Brown, Breann Clayton, Abigail Currier, Jacob Flewelling and Sara Gilman. Alexandra Allen, chapter president, hosted the new members’ induction on March 4. Parents, family, friends and faculty gathered in the high school gym to watch the formal induction of the new members.
Presently, the chapter is planning two more events for May. To help celebrate Easton’s Sesquicentennial, the NHS is hosting a Pie Social and Talent Show for the community on the evening of May 2 in the high school gym. Donations will be accepted to help with the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fund-raising efforts.
The final fundraiser will be held during the intermission of the elementary school play, with proceeds being donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
