To the editor:
This Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, Aroostook County voters will be asked to assist higher education in Maine — the Community College System and the University of Maine System — by voting ‘Yes’ on Propositions Two and Three. Proposition Two approves further investment in research and development activities. Proposition Three approves classroom improvements at campuses throughout the state. Both NMCC and UMPI would be able to improve some of their old and essential classroom facilities as a result of a successful ‘Yes’ vote on Proposition Three. UMPI would improve the primary classroom facility, Folsom-Pullen Hall, with such essentials as new boilers and energy efficient windows. NMCC will improve the Mailman facility, one of its essential technical trades learning buildings. All improvements will bring jobs to County workers, better teaching and learning conditions for faculty and students, and money saving and energy efficient improvements to two crucial buildings.
We would be delighted to show any interested citizens the two buildings on which improvements are planned. If you would like a guided tour at either UMPI or NMCC or both, please call Dave St. Peter (UMPI) at 768-9577 or Barry Ingraham (NMCC) at 768-2706. We hope you will join us at the polls on November 6 to vote ‘Yes’ on Propositions Two and Three.
