Mars Hill library to hold open house

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that there will be an open house at the Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library on Thursday, May 14, from 4-8 p.m.
We welcome all residents of Mars Hill, Blaine and surrounding areas to stop by to see the “new and improved” library.
Amnesty
The trustees of the Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library would like to have all overdue books returned to the library by Sunday, May 31. Any books or other materials that are returned by that date will not owe any fees. Please try to get any items that you may have turned in by then.
Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, May 5, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Sami Drost. She showed pictures and spoke of the Washington, D.C., trip taken by members of the Youth in Government class at Central Aroostook High School, along with chaperons. Also speaking of their trip were Carly Grass, Noah Bradstreet and Kevin Grass.
The group was able to get to many sites such as the Washington Mall, the U.S. Mint, the Smithsonian, the National Zoo, Arlington, Ford Theater, Kennedy Center and more.
They were also able to take a Capitol Tour and meet with Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King.
Aroostook Health Center
Upcoming events for the week of May 13-19 include: Wednesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m. and Community Ladies Tea at 1:30 p.m. Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Turkey Dinner at 11 a.m. and Country Jamboree with Corn Fritters at 1:30 p.m. Friday will feature Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Taco Bar Lunch and Make your own Sundae at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will be a free day. Sunday will feature Full Gospel Assembly Service at 3 p.m. Monday will feature Morning Stretch at 9:30 a.m., Nail Beautiful at 10 a.m., Communion with Rev. Phelps at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Diner Lunch and Bingo Popcorn at 6:00 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.
BINGO
The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting BINGO every Saturday evening from 7 p.m., until done. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
After the Bell
This week at After the Bell the Tri Club is in full swing. The children will be running at Bigrock on Wednesday nights from 6-7 p.m.
Join After the Bell as they get ready to ride at their Bike Safety Party on Thursday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at Bigrock Mountain. Julie French will share with the kids all things bike related! Her yearly visit is always a highlight. Bring your bikes and helmets. Bike, Board and Ski will be on hand to inspect your bike. Save a trip to Presque Isle as this is required for Tri Aroostook Kids with Jonathan Kelley in June. All children completing the bike safety checklist will be entered to win some great bike accessories; you do not need to commit to the Tri to participate!
Children train in the pool on Tuesday, May 19. Parents are responsible for transporting children to UMPI. Swimming will start at 6 p.m. Parents and siblings are welcome to swim as well.
