Salmon Brook Historical to meet May 28

    The Salmon Brook Historical Society will be holding a meeting on Thursday, May 28, at the Washburn Civic Center at 6 p.m.

A business meeting including election of officers will follow the potluck supper. Please bring a place setting and either a main course dish, a salad or a dessert. All are welcome.

Thompson graduates

    Army Pvt. Taylor K. Thompson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Thompson is the daughter of Angela and Terry Thompson of Washburn, and sister of Danielle Thompson.
She is a 2014 graduate of Washburn District High School.

Woodworking Club

    Members of the Woodworking Club at Washburn District High School are performing auto detailing as a way to raise money for their organization. The basic service for $40 includes: interior cleaning, Armor All, window cleaning and trunk. The deluxe service for $50 includes: interior cleaning, Armor All, window cleaning, trunk and shampoo. Extremely dirty vehicles will cost extra.
