Over 80 letter carriers and guests, including carriers from as far away as Sanford, attended the 105th Maine State Association of Letter Carriers Convention May 16 and 17 at the Northeastland Hotel in Presque Isle.

Aroostook County Letter Carriers Branch 2394, with members from Fort Kent to Houlton, hosted the event. Chairman and organizer was George A. Dionne, branch treasurer and director of retirees for the Maine State Association of Letter Carriers (MSALC).

Alexis Cyr of Grand Isle, daughter of Herman and Rachel Cyr, was awarded a $500 scholarship by the Aroostook County Letter Carriers Branch 2394. She is a graduate of Madawaska High School Class of 2014 and currently attends the University of Maine at Augusta.

State Rep. Robert J. Saucier, D-Presque Isle, was guest speaker at the Sunday breakfast event. Sharon Campbell, regional representative for Sen. Angus King, also spoke. Sen. Susan Collins, who was unable to attend, sent a video welcoming the letter carriers and guests to Aroostook County.

Other highlights of the two-day event included workshops, a presentation by NALC Nation Officer and Mutual Benefit Association Director Myra Warren and training on legislative issues by Legislative Regional Field Coordinator Ross Medico, both of Washington, D.C.
