Honor parts announced at CAHS

    MARS HILL, Maine — Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School of Mars Hill has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2015. The valedictorian is Sean Brock and the salutatorian is Emily Pickance. The first honor essayist is Whitnie Bradbury and the second honor essayist is Carly Grass.


Brock is the son of Darci Ladner and Donald Brock of Mars Hill. He has participated in Math Team, Peer Tutoring, FFA (serving as vice president) and the National Honor Society (serving as president).
Brock has earned multiple awards throughout high school including academic awards in math, civics, art and Spanish. He has also been chosen for Student of the Month, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution History Award and the Maine Principals’ Award. Brock has volunteered in the community at the local food cupboard, at the Mars Hill Country Club, and at the Salvation Army. Sean plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington to study geology.
Pickance is the daughter of Boni Hunter of Blaine. She has been involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, Spanish Club, Math Team, and Trust Team. Pickance has earned awards in history, Spanish, biology, sociology, and physical science.
She has earned honor roll awards for highest honors every quarter of high school. She plans to attend Northern Maine Community College to study business management.
Bradbury is the daughter of Bart and Heather Bradbury of Bridgewater. She has participated in many activities while in high school.
Bradbury has played basketball and soccer and is a state champion cheerleader. She has been involved in National Honor Society; Youth in Government and FFA, serving as the state president this year. She has also earned awards at Central Aroostook including Student of the Year, Pre-calculus Award, and Spanish Award. Bradbury has volunteered at Wilderness Day Camp, Kicking-Bear camp, and for the Bridgewater Recreation Department. She has also been involved in her church as a junior church teacher. She plans to attend Husson in the fall to study business administration with a concentration in marketing.
Grass is the daughter of Leigh and Scott Belair of Bridgewater and Andy Grass of Mars Hill. She has been involved in activities such as chorus, basketball, soccer and varsity softball. She has also participated in Youth in Government and the FFA.
This year, Grass served as the FFA state vice president. She has earned awards in Spanish and English courses and was recently honored at the Academic Recognition Night as earning honor roll each quarter of high school.
Grass has volunteered for the Bridgewater Recreation Department, the American Red Cross blood drives and the Mars Hill food cupboard. She will attend The Maine College of Health Professions to study radiology and nuclear medicine.
