Toth to transfer to UMA in fall
Darby Toth, a second team All-American last season as a member of the University of Maine at Presque Isle women’s basketball team, is transferring to the University of Maine at Augusta to play during the 2015-16 season.
The announcement appeared on the UMA website and was confirmed by UMPI coach Doug Carter.
Toth, who is from North Port, Fla., averaged 16.7 points, 6.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds as a junior for the Owls last season. She was named to the USCAA Academic All-American team.
According to the website, she will major in biology, with a minor in secondary education.
“I decided upon UMA because the basketball program is well-established and appears to really be centered on building team camaraderie,” said Toth, “which I know translates to excellent teamwork on the court.”
Head coach Jennifer Laney is excited about the arrival of Toth.
“Darby’s court awareness and experience will make a huge impact for the Lady Moose this season,” she said. “Not only did Darby lead the USCAA in assists this past season, but she has an incredibly quick first step to the basket and the ability to hit long range shots which makes her a true triple threat. We are thrilled to have Darby join the Moose family.”
