A tribute to dads everywhere
As I was growing up, Dad was my hero. He could fix anything, operate any equipment — large or small, and he provided a home, food and clothing for me.
I loved it when Dad would start talking about his time in the military. I could sit and daydream for hours about the exotic places he had been.
I also had the privilege of going to work with Dad. I would ride for hours in a dump truck or beside him on the seat of a bulldozer or behind his seat in the cab of a back hoe. He taught me a strong work ethic that I was able to hand down to my sons.
I wasn’t able to be with my dad when he passed away a few years ago and my biggest regret was in not being able to tell him I loved him one last time. Dad, you always were and always will be my hero.
Young and old alike, this Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21st, please take the time and tell your dad you love him and thank him for being your hero. I can guarantee it will be time well spent and very much worth it.
Happy Father’s Day, dads, wherever you are!
