Blanchard joins NMCC

Northern Maine Community College President Tim Crowley has announced the newest member of the NMCC staff. Presque Isle native Jon Blanchard will return to the County to accept the position as director of residential life.

Blanchard is currently the interim dean of campus life at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, where he has worked for nine years. While at St. Joseph’s he has also served as associate dean of campus life and director of residential life.
Blanchard started his career at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., as campus housing coordinator. He earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy at St. Anselm and is a graduate of Presque Isle High School.
“We’re very happy to have someone of Jon’s experience in education, specifically in residential life, to join the NMCC staff,” said Dr. William Egeler, NMCC dean of students.
“In his current position at St. Joseph’s, Jon is responsible for the well-being of more than 700 residential students. His energy and sincerity are evident and I look forward to watching positive interactions develop with the students on our campus,” added Egeler.
The director of residential life at NMCC manages the comprehensive residential life program, which includes cultural, educational and social activities, coordinates the residential life staff selection and training, and provides supervision and conflict resolution as well as student advising. Additionally, the director administers the Housing On-Demand program, which enables students to stay in campus residence facilities on an as-needed basis.
“I’m thrilled to be returning home and especially to be a part of this dynamic college which contributes so much to Aroostook’s economy,” Blanchard explained.
