Fun Day marks end of year

    On Monday June 15, 2015, Washburn Elementary had its annual end of the year Fun Day.

   The students participated in games, including running through hoses and tossing water balloons, had their faces painted, enjoyed music played by KC & Company and had a special lunch outside.

 Meeting slated Thursday

    The Salmon Brook Historical Society will be holding a meeting Thursday, June 25 at the Washburn Civic Center at 6 p.m. A business meeting will follow the potluck supper. Please bring a place setting and either a main course dish, a salad or a dessert.

Beaver Blitz Basketball Camp

    Basketball camp will be held this summer from July 6-8 at the Washburn Elementary School Gymnasium. Beaver Blitz Basketball Camp is co-directed by Mitch and Kenzie Worcester and supervised by Larry Worcester.
    The camp will offer individual and group drill stations, instructional games, and skill competitions. Each participant that pre-registers will receive a Beaver Blitz Basketball Camp T-shirt. Youth in kindergarten through second grade will meet from noon-1 p.m., grades 3-5 from 1-2:30 p.m. and grades 6-8 from 2:30-4 p.m. The fee is $10 for grades K-2 and $20 per player for grades 3-8.

    Those celebrating a birthday between June 24-30 include: MacKenzie McCrum, Wilda Goodall, Garry Pangburn, Londa Brown, Jason Thompson, Lavina Corey, Susan Boyd, Travis Drost, Marianne Helton, Larry Bragg, Steve Doody and Bernice Farley.

Rotary truck pulls

    The Rotary Club of Washburn will be hosting their sixth annual Truck and Tractor Pulls at the Fairground on Saturday, July 4. Many classes of trucks and tractors will be competing for cash prizes. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. and the pulls start at 6 p.m. Join us in celebrating the Fourth of July and the annual pulls. Adult admission is $10.
