The Maine Developmental Disabilities Council will offer seminars at three different locations throughout Aroostook County to help improve the understanding of common health care issues for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Those attending one of the seminars will also learn techniques to better communicate with individuals with those disabilities and strategies that will improve their access to quality health care.
The seminar is geared toward caregivers, medical providers, case managers, guardians and direct support personnel.
The training will be offered July 6 at Houlton Community Living Association on 2 North St. in Houlton, July 7 at Opportunity Training Center on 25 Lombard St. in Presque Isle and July 8 at the St. John Valley Association on 291 Newbury Dr. in Madawaska. Sessions at each venue will be offered from 9-11 a.m. and 3-5 p.m.
Refreshments will be offered and giveaways will take place. Contact Angela Burgess of the MDDC by phone at 287-4216 or by email at angela.b.burgess@maine.gov to register for one of the sessions.
