Nashville Plt. crash injures one
NASHVILLE PLT., Maine — A two-vehicle crash on Rt. 11 on July 3, 2015, closed down the road briefly and resulted in one man being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Maine State Police Sgt. Chad Fuller, James Gaughan, 60, of Baldwin was northbound on Rt. 11 in Nashville Plt., driving a 2014 Toyota Siena van. Meanwhile, Troy Theriault, 32, of Fort Kent was pulling out of a logging road in a 2012 Ford pickup.
Theriault did not see Gaughan and pulled out into the roadway in front of him, causing Gaughan to hit Theriault in the side of his vehicle.
Trooper Adam Stoutamyer responded to the scene.
As a result of the crash, Gaughan was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extracted from the vehicle by emergency medical personnel, Fuller said. He added both men were wearing their seatbelts, and speed was not thought to be a factor.
Gaughan was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle by Ashland ambulance personnel, and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident is currently under investigation.
