The 2015 Relay for Life of Aroostook was celebrated June 19-20 in Caribou, raising over $112,000 in the fight against cancer. Congratulations to the top fundraising teams: Huber Engineered Woods-Building on a Cure was fifth raising a total of $9,276.07 and McCain-Searching for a Cure was No. 1, raising $15,442.96.

Congratulations to first-year relay team, Team Suzie-Flewelling Family, who raised $4,588.50. In honor of Suzie, who died April 9, they organized a team to help in the fight against cancer. The night turned into a “family affair.” Although most family members could not stay all night, many came to support the team and spend time reminiscing in the team tent. Jerry even took a couple of laps around the track during the formal team laps when “Suzie’s Team” was introduced. In addition to the pledges the team received prior to the event, they sold stuffed baked potatoes as an onsite fundraiser. Suzie’s team wishes to thank all of those who helped contribute to this event monetarily or as a team member.
Also congratulations to the top individual fundraisers. Wendell Boyd, Huber Team member, placed third raising $2,414.94 and John Bishop, McCain team member, placed first raising $10,002.
These three Easton community teams came together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has taken so much from them. The Relay for Life of Aroostook is 20 years strong and included 28 teams and over 400 participants.
