Kirk hired at Easton
EASTON, Maine — Audra Kirk has coached at the recreation, middle school and junior varsity level and now the Limestone native has earned her first varsity position.
Audra Kirk was recently hired as the girls’ varsity soccer coach at Easton High School. She replaces Rachel Tomlinson, who held the post for the last eight seasons before resigning due to a change in professional responsibilities and to spend more time with her two young children.
Kirk played sports at Limestone Community School and at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She graduated from UMPI in May with a degree in education and was recently hired to work for SAD 42 in Mars Hill as a fourth-grade teacher at Fort Street Elementary School beginning this fall.
“She was a great candidate for the position and comes highly recommended for the motivation and passion that she brings to the game of soccer,” said Easton’s athletic director, Steve Shaw. “She will relate well to our situation as she has had experience with that age group.
“We are excited to have her join our program,” he added.
As an UMPI student, Kirk coached junior varsity soccer at Presque Isle High School for two years and prior to that had played at the collegiate level with the Owls. She has also coached tennis and softball at Presque Isle Middle School and coached basketball for the Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department this past winter.
“I am very excited to start coaching for the Bears,” said the 22-year-old Kirk, who resides in Presque Isle. “I have dreamed of coaching a varsity team and believe I can bring quality content, knowledge and experience to the program.
“I hope the girls are ready for a dynamic season and a lot of hard work,” she said.
