MASARDIS – Pauline Priscilla Craig, 96, died July 13, 2015, at the Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill. She was born April 15, 1919, in Masardis, a daughter of the late Ellery S. and Jennie (Sholler) Robinson. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1937. Pauline married Gerald W. Craig on October 16, 1938, and together they raised five children.
Pauline enjoyed all that nature had to offer. She grew abundant vegetable and flower gardens. She and Gerald could often be found in the T10 R6 area each fall. Those lucky enough to come across them were welcomed to share in their “picnic”. She was able to identify birds simply by their songs. She watched the night sky and knew many of the stars and constellations by name. Pauline was active in the former Masardis Extension. She was a self-taught musician and played the piano at the Rockwell Church where she had attended elementary school in her youth. In recent years, she enjoyed many performances at The Aroostook Health Center where she often joined in whistling along with the musicians.
She is survived by four children, Lois Howes and her husband, Dana of Ashland, Ella Weeks and her husband, John of Masardis, Marion Dunham and her husband, Gerald of Garfield Plt., and Nelson Craig and his wife, Sharon of Masardis; daughter-in-law, Patricia Craig of Ashland; her brother, Glynn Robinson of Conn.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Gerald in 2005; and her oldest son, Allen in 2006. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Walter Patchell, Monroe, Harold, Vernon and Chester Robinson; a sister, Lillian Craig; and a son-in-law, David Walker.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Advent Christian Church, Exchange St., Ashland, with Rev. William Harris officiating.
