BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Recreation and Parks Association’s Future Stars state track and field meet was held last July 14 at Cameron Stadium and a number of athletes from the region enjoyed excellent performances.
Girls taking first-place in their respective events were Jessica Halsey of Fort Fairfield in the 13-14 year-old 800-meter run (2:50.82) and the 400-meter dash (1:11.81), Mia Shaw of Presque Isle in the ages 7-8 200-meter dash (41.93) and the 400-meter dash (1:33.06), Abby Johnston of Presque Isle in the ages 9-10 200-meter dash (40.08), Skyler Oakes of Fort Fairfield in the ages 7-8 standing long jump (5 feet, 5 inches), Chacity Gendreau of Presque Isle in the ages 9-10 standing long jump (5 feet, 7 inches) and Megan Schupbach of Fort Fairfield in the ages 11-12 standing long jump (6 feet, 2 inches).
The Presque Isle A team won the 4×100-meter relay, with the team consisting of Gendreau, Jorja Maynard, Reece McPherson and Johnston. Their time was 1:13.01.
Also placing either second or third in their respective individual events were Gendreau, 50-meter dash; Delaney McKeen of Mars Hill, ages 9-10 50-meter dash and standing long jump; Libby Grass of Mars Hill, ages 13-14 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash; Isabel Pryor of Mars Hill, ages 9-10 400-meter dash; Kylee Bolstridge of Ashland, ages 11-12 400-meter dash; Gabi Caron of Presque Isle, ages 9-10 800-meter run; Abigail Benson of Presque Isle, ages 9-10 800-meter run; Bella Quirino of Presque Isle, ages 11-12 800-meter run; Camryn Ala of Fort Fairfield, ages 11-12 800-meter run and softball throw; Kyla Cunningham of Washburn, ages 13-14 800-meter run; Addison Clairmont of Presque Isle, ages 7-8 200-meter dash; Janelle Tweedie of Mars Hill, ages 13-14 softball throw; Rhylee Kinney of Presque Isle, ages 13-14 standing long jump; and Chloe Lento of Easton, ages 7-8 400-meter dash.
For boys, first-place finishers from the area were Kilian Deschaine of Presque Isle in the ages 7-8 800-meter run (3:30.01) and the standing long jump (5 feet, 8 inches), Sam Beaulieu of Presque Isle in the ages 13-14 800-meter run (3:00.44), Landen Leavitt of Fort Fairfield in the ages 7-8 softball throw (91 feet, 4 inches) and the 400-meter dash (1:30.8), Malachi Cummings of Presque Isle in the ages 9-10 softball throw (124 feet, 4 inches), Jonah Roy of Presque Isle in the ages 11-12 softball throw (154 feet, 3 inches), Colby Langner of Fort Fairfield in the ages 13-14 softball throw (140 feet, 10 inches), Malcolm Langner of Fort Fairfield in the age 15 softball throw (150 feet, 7 inches) and the 400-meter run (1:08.72), Micah Daigle of Fort Fairfield in the ages 9-10 standing long jump (6 feet, 4 inches) and Holden Stoutamyer of Presque Isle in the ages 13-14 standing long jump (6 feet, 11 inches).
The Fort Fairfield 4×100-meter relay team of Leavitt, Brett Senal, Graedon King-Rosado and Cayden Ala captured first place with a time of 1:15.57.
