New County tourism guide on fast track
CARIBOU — The advertising and business inclusion deadline for the next printing of the Aroostook County Visitor Guide is rapidly approaching.
Due to a tremendous demand for the last printing, the timeline for developing a new guide has been pushed up. Historically the guide has been distributed in early October, but Aroostook County Tourism (ACT) wants to have a new guide available by Labor Day.
“The Visitor’s Guide contains information on all the wonderful things Aroostook County has to offer with topics including, but not limited to, cultural, historical, recreational, hunting, fishing, motorized and non-motorized activities, lodging, dining and events,” said Ken Murchison, regional tourism developer for the Northern Maine Development Commission.
The guide provides free general listings including the name, location, phone number and website of all tourism-related businesses. However, the publication will also provide advertising opportunities for businesses who would like to capture the attention of a guide user who just might be flipping through the book.
Tourism-related businesses wanting to be listed in the guide need to contact Murchison as soon as possible.
“While we maintain a database of tourism businesses, the information we have often becomes outdated as phone numbers change, businesses open and close, etc.,” he added. “It is important to contact me to make sure your business is listed in the guide and the information that we have is correct.”
In addition to the free listing, businesses can also purchase larger display ads.
For information on placing an ad in the publication, contact Bonnie Pack at (207) 769-9406 or by email at bpack@maine.rr.com.
