Saucier serves city well

To the editor:

Since taking office, Rep. Robert Saucier has been a strong voice for the people of Presque Isle. His dedication and steadfast commitment to Aroostook County cannot be matched. As a fellow legislator, I have seen firsthand how hard he works for his constituents and for all of Maine.

This year, Rep. Saucier introduced legislation very much in keeping with his promise to stand up for rural Maine. His bill, which will be taken up next year, would expand access to high-speed Internet throughout rural Maine.

Mainers travelled from all over the state, including many from Aroostook County, to testify in support of this vital legislation. It would provide better Internet service to rural businesses, allowing them to be more competitive at the state and national levels.

Serving as a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee, Rep. Saucier has been a tireless supporter of the Land for Maine’s Future program, which is a key economic driver in rural Maine. The projects funded by this program support hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, biking, camping and many other recreational pursuits.

Rep. Saucier is a veteran who has an extensive background in the military, with four years active duty in the United States Air Force and 24 years with the Maine Army National Guard. He also serves on the Legislature’s Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee, where he passionately advocates for veterans and fellow service members.

Every time I’ve visited Presque Isle, it is clear to me that his constituents know him and respect the work he does for his community. It is an honor to serve with such a passionate and hardworking legislator.
