The 27th annual Cloukey’s Charity Challenge Golf Tournament, held June 18 and 19, was another huge success. The unique format includes four separate nine-hole scrambles with prizes awarded after the event. All money raised from the event goes to Aroostook County Special Olympics.
On June 18, the golfers were at Limestone Country Club. The morning tournament was won by Darren Barnes, Dustin Saucier, Brad Boyles and John Pelletier, who shot a 6-under-par 30 to claim the top prize. First net went to Mike Dahlgren, Dave Demerchant Sr., Dave Demerchant Jr. and Dale Demerchant, who shot a 28.5 net.
The afternoon session was won by Al Hebert, Roger Beaulieu, Charlie Albert and Dale Daney of Madawaska. They ended with a 4-under 32. Alan Kallmann, Jamie Albert, Terry Cantafio and Craig O’Neal of the Limestone area took low net with a 28.5.
On June 19, the tournament moved to Long Lake Country Club. Paul Brideau, Albert, Rick Pelletier and Don Michaud of Madawaska ended up with a 5-under 30 to claim the top prize. Travis Rich, Linda Daigle, Danielle Daigle and Ron Daigle of Madawaska ended with a 28 net for the victory.
The afternoon tournament won by Beaulieu, Hebert, Daney and Lee Roix of the Madawaska area they ended with a 6-under 29. First net went to AJ Cloukey, Tom Richard, Kati Roy and Tony Roy, with a 27 net.
Tourney organizer Rene Cloukey said Dean Kimball of Limestone Country Club and Al Hebert of Long Lake Country Club were gracious in donating their respective courses for the weekend event.
