Michael “Snuffy” Howes
HOWES, Michael “Snuffy”, 59, ASHLAND, at Bangor, August 1, 2015. A celebration of his life was held at the family farm in Ashland on August 8.
ASHLAND – Michael “Snuffy” Howes passed away on August 1, 2015, at EMMC in Bangor. He was born on April 8, 1956, to Bernard and Carlene (Jo) Howes and spent all of his life in Ashland, the town that he loved.
He was educated in the Ashland School District and worked for a variety of companies throughout his life, including Pinkham Lumber and most recently for M. Rafford Trucking.
Snuffy was also the assistant chief of the Ashland Fire Department for 22 years and considered its members, brothers and sisters. Mike loved the North Maine Woods. He spent many of his weekends hunting, trapping and fishing. He loved to tell stories about being in the woods and especially liked telling “big fish” stories.
Mike is survived by his two sons, Matt and Mark; his grandchildren, Jessie, Jacob, Olivia, Cecilia, Mateo, William and Elias; his brothers, Myron, Scott and Bernie; his sister, Sharon; and his mother, Jo.
A celebration of his life was held at the family farm at 400 Masardis Road in Ashland on August 8 at 1 p.m.
