It’s all about saving the kitties

    To the editor:
It has been a wild and busy summer for Halfway Home Pet Rescue. Because of the huge number of sick, injured, surrendered and abandoned cats that came to us this summer, we actually ran out of food for the first time in early August.

A cry of “help” went out through the various media outlets and we received all that we needed to get through the time of food shortage.
We are grateful to all the people who pitched in and brought us Purina dry Cat Chow (blue Complete bag), Purina dry Kitten Chow, canned Fancy Feast chicken and Friskies canned chicken. It was greatly needed and appreciated.
We are always running short on cat litter and bleach. Our gratitude to Maine Mutual Insurance Co. employees for their special food drive to help our cats.
If you can help, that would be wonderful and you can drop it off at 489 Main St., 31 Herschel St. or 11 Pioneer Ave. We continue to be in need of these items due to the large number of animals and low-income homes that we help. Our shelter continues to be full with healthy, adult cats and all the foster homes are full of healthy kittens.
Our networking with several southern Maine shelters and pet rescues is still paying off for our feline population. We continue to send down our healthy, happy and loving kitties and they quickly get placed in good homes. It is all about saving the kitties.
