Bowling meetings scheduled

    Northern Lanes will hold organizational meetings for its bowling leagues on the following dates.
    Sept. 8, 2015, 6:30 p.m., Women’s Tuesday Night League, Sept. 9, 2015, 6:30 p.m., Men’s Monday and Wednesday leagues; Sept. 10, 2015, 6:30 p.m., Men’s Thursday Night League; and Sept. 13, 2015, 5 p.m., Sunday Night Mixed Doubles.
    The Junior League’s first week is Oct. 3, 2015 at 10 a.m.

Officiating class

    Basketball officiating school for new officials will be held Mondays and begins Sept. 28 at Presque Isle High School.
    The class will be held from 7-9 p.m. and the cost is $40. For more information on the class and the specific location, contact Harry Orser at 425-4451.

Owl soccer teams’ upcoming home games

    The University of Maine at Presque Isle men’s soccer team will play its home opener Friday at 3 p.m. against St. Thomas University of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The Owls will also be at home Sunday against Maine Maritime Academy (2 p.m.) and next Wednesday, Sept. 9 against UM-Farmington (4 p.m.)
    The women will also be in action for the first time at Park Family Field on the UMPI campus Sept. 9 for a 2 p.m. match against UMF.
    Cody Blair of Ashland and Johnny Theriault of Fort Fairfield are newcomers to the Owl men’s roster, joining Michael Guerrette of Presque Isle as local players on coach Alan Gordon’s team.
    Players suiting up for the UMPI women from the region are freshmen Emma Kinney, Jordi Legassie and Megan McKnight, all former Presque Isle Wildcat teammates. Mikayla Churchill of Washburn is another first-year player, while Janae Libby of Fort Fairfield is a returnee.
    The Owl squads opened on the road Tuesday afternoon at Unity College.

Hole-in-one at PICC

    Todd Adams notched a hole-in-one at Presque Isle Country Club Aug. 23. Adams was participating in the Parkhurst Siding Open when he aced the eighth hole. The witnesses were Jesse Perley, Steve Clark and Chris Casavant.
