PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Recreation Center is currently taking pre-paid registrations for the Oct. 5-Nov. 14 session of swimming lessons, being offered at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Gentile Hall.
A variety of classes are being offered for all ages.
Parent/Toddler (6 months to 3 years), which requires an adult to be in the water, has spaces available Tuesday from 9-9:25 a.m.; Thursday from 6-6:25 p.m.; or Saturday from 9-9:25 a.m.
PRE 1-Ages 3-5, for those not comfortable in the water, has openings Tuesday from 4-4:25 p.m.; Wednesday from 3-3:25 p.m.; Friday from 9-9:25 a.m.; or Saturday from :30-9:55 a.m.
PRE 2-Ages 3-5, for those comfortable in the water, has openings Monday from 10-10:25 a.m. and 3:30-3:55 p.m.; Tuesday from 9:30-9:55 a.m.; 4:30-4:55 p.m.; and 5:30-5:55 p.m.; Wednesday from 10-10:25 a.m.; 4-4:25 p.m.; and 4:30-4:55 p.m.; Thursday from 6:30-6:55 p.m.; Friday from 9:30-9:55 a.m.; or Saturday from 10-10:25 a.m.
PRE 3-Ages 3-5, swimming, has openings Tuesday from 5-5:25 p.m.; Wednesday from 3:30-3:55 p.m.; or Saturday from 10:30-10:55 a.m.
Learn to Swim 1 is for children 6-12 years old. This level is for the beginner and has a fear of the water. There are openings in the 5-5:50 p.m. class offered Thursdays.
Learn to Swim 2 is for the beginner who is comfortable in the water but not swimming. This level has openings Wednesday from 5-5:50 p.m.; Thursday from 3-3:50 p.m.and 5-5:50 p.m.; or Saturday from 9-9:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim 3-4 has openings Tuesday from 5-5:50 p.m.; Wednesday from 9-9:50 a.m. and 6-6:50 p.m.; Thursday from 4-4:50 p.m.; or Saturday from 10-10:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim 5-6 has openings Tuesday from 6-6:50 p.m. or 10:30-11:20 a.m.
Adapted lessons are for children with autism and requires an adult in the water. There are openings in the Tuesday class offered 3:30-4:20 p.m.
Adult lessons are Thursday from 6-6:50 p.m. Shallow Water Exercise classes are held Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10-10:50 a.m. Deep Water Exercise classes are held Monday and Wednesday from 4-4:50 p.m.
Registration runs through Oct. 2 and can be done at the William Haskell Community Center. The center’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Swimming lessons have a $25 fee per participant. Non-residents will have an additional family fee of $50.
