Experienced mammography team benefits patients
at Cary’s Women’s Imaging Center
With almost 30 years of experience in women’s health, the Mammography Team at Cary Medical Center’s Women’s Imaging Center combine their clinical skills and expertise with a focus on patient-centered care.
Wendy Prashaw, RT(R)(M), RDMS, is the Center’s lead mammographer/ultrasonographer with 16 years of experience in the mammography field. Her colleagues, mammographers Kristal Duval, RT(R)(M), and Karie Ouellette, RT(R)(M), have a combined nine years of experience.
Kimberly Wilcox, RT(R)(MR)(M), CN-BI, has been the hospital’s Patient Navigator since the Women’s Imaging Center opened in December of 2012. As a navigator, Kim assists patients with access to all aspects of breast care at Cary by helping to provide more efficient delivery of care, improved sharing of resources, and removal of barriers to care. She is a personal representative for every patient and their families, and is committed to providing the best clinical and personal care, emotional support and educational tools possible with support from their medical team.
In 2014, Cary Medical Center was the recipient of the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Breast Centers, acknowledging the team’s dedication to providing exceptional patient care and treatment. By carrying the Women’s Choice Award seal, the Imaging Center and Mammography Team have signified their commitment to a global mission of elevating the patient experience for women and all patients as one of America’s Best Breast Centers.
“Today, there are nearly three million breast cancer survivors in the United States and we only want to see this number increase,” says Delia Passi, CEO & founder of WomenCertified, home of the Women’s Choice Award. “Breast care is extremely vital to women’s health and we want them to know that Cary Medical Center has met the highest standards in caring for the needs of their female patients. The Women’s Choice Award is the only program that identifies the nation’s best in healthcare based on patient satisfaction, clinical excellence and what women really want when it comes to treatment and a quality medical experience.”
