Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 is National Make a Difference Day. This is a national day of helping others, a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.

Make a Difference Day was created by the national weekend newspaper/magazine USA Weekend in collaboration with Points of Light and has been held every fourth Saturday of October since 1992. Their goal was to recognize the everyday people whose contributions improve communities and better lives, and encourage others to make a difference.
As they have for several years now, the Washburn quilting group A Stitchin’ and a Givin’ will be at the Trailrunners’ Clubhouse on Make a Difference Day from 9 a.m. until about 4 p.m., working on the memory quilts they create year round for Hospice of Aroostook. All of the memory quilts created stay in Aroostook County and are distributed from Allagash to Danforth.
Anyone, regardless of quilting knowhow, is welcome to stop by the clubhouse on Saturday and lend a hand.
The group would also like to encourage everyone to make a difference on Saturday October 24th. It could be something as simple as raking up leaves for a neighbor. Just look around our community, see what needs to be done, roll up your sleeves and make a difference. If a lot of people do a little bit, then much can be accomplished.
