18 years ago

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Sparky and Fireman Vince Baldwin, from the Presque Isle Fire Department, stopped by Little Feathers to teach a lesson on fire safety.

The visitors advised using the following fire safety rules:
• Do not play with matches or lighters;
• Call 9-1-1 only if there is an emergency;
• Make sure mom or dad check the smoke detectors each month;
• Make sure you have a meeting place in case there is a fire;
• Do not play with electrical outlets; and
• Make sure your Christmas tree is watered and mom or dad plug the lights.
Children practiced stop, drop and roll techniques.
Sparky gave each child a coloring book, his trading card, crayons, a Sparky pin and junior firefighter hats and badges.
The center thanks the PIFD for taking the time to visit with the children and teach them life-saving fire-safety techniques.
