STAPLES, Hazel, 98, PRESQUE ISLE, October 18, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Hazel Staples, 98, passed away October 18, 2015, at the Presque Isle Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born, September 1, 1917, in Perham, the daughter of Frank and Mae (Nesbitt) Conley.
She married Philip A. Staples, December 31, 1939, and became a loving and proud homemaker and farmer’s wife.
She was a life member of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church and was very active in United Methodist Women. She was a Sunday school teacher and a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed baking, feeding anyone that came to their home, gardening, knitting and playing bridge. But she was happiest when she was with Family.
She is survived by her two sons, David and Linda Staples, of Palm Harbor, FL, and Gregory and Connie Staples, of Presque Isle; her granddaughter, Jennifer and Heath Pierce, of Saco; her grandsons: Shannon and Bethany Staples, Philip and Amy Staples of Presque Isle and Todd and Jessica Staples, of Lincoln, MA; her 13 special great-grandchildren: Blake, Brynn, Cole, Alec, Adrian, Lily, Jonathan Isaac, Elijah, Martin and Maya Staples, Camden York, and Brady Pierce; one special sister, Kay and Harold Adams; and one special brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Janice Conley; sisters-in-law: Marion and Lorraine Conley, lona, Janet and Joan Staples and brother-in-law: Dana Nickerson; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters: Helen Wineski, Hilma Nickerson, and Dorothy Edens; six brothers: Milford, Elwood, Linwood, Delbert, Donald and Gilford Conley.
Family and friends may call 2 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle, where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., with Rev. Christopher Dare officiating. Interment will follow the service at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle and a reception will follow at the funeral home.
