PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The opening meet was a good one for the newly-formed Carlisle swim team as it topped Washington Academy in both the girls’ and boys’ competitions Saturday at UMPI’s Gentile Hall pool.
Carlisle includes swimmers from Caribou, MSSM and Presque Isle.
The girls claimed an 86-52 victory and the boys prevailed, 60-46.
Capturing individual wins were, for girls, Kyra Thibeault in the 200-yard freestyle (3:02.59), Madelyn Wing in the 200 I.M. (2:39.08), Abigail Espling in the 100 back (1:31.68) and Kristyn Maley in the 100 breast (1:38.09).
Victorious in relays were the foursome of Abigail Raymond, Maley, Wing and Thibeault in both the 200 medley (2:23.27) and the 400 freestyle (4:53.62).
Claiming boys’ individual wins were Austin Scott in the 200 free (2:09.34) and the 100 fly (1:02.86), Leigh Buck in the 50 free (25.26) and the 100 free (57.11), Nate Gere in the 100 back (1:09.95) and David Govoni in the 100 breast (1:24.2).
For relays, the team of Gere, Govoni, Scott and Buck had the fastest times in the 200 medley (1:55.54) and the 200 freestyle (1:44.33).
The Carlisle squad is back in action Saturday at 7 p.m. at a meet taking place in Orono.
