Bonner nominated to three service academies

Emma Bonner, a senior at Easton Junior/Senior High School, was recently nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. and U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
Rep. Bruce Poliquin recently announced he has nominated 18 students from Maine’s Second District to attend one of the nation’s prestigious military service academies next year. The congressman will host a celebration in their honor in early 2016. Poliquin released the following statement:
“It is a great honor to nominate these young, dedicated Mainers to be considered for admission at our nation’s fine military service academies,” said Poliquin. “These outstanding men and women impressed me with their incredible record of service already to their studies, communities and this great country. They truly are among the best and brightest and give me great hope for the future of our armed forces, our nation and the cause of freedom.
“I thank them for their sacrifice and wish them the best of luck in their future service,” he added.
Congratulations to EHS students of month
Easton High School has named its students of the month for September 2015. The junior high honoree was seventh-grader Camden Michaud and at the senior high honoree was Zachary Hammond, a junior. October 2015 winner for the junior high was Kaitlyn Hurley and for the high school it was Emma Bonner.
Christmas dinner changed to Dec. 18
The Easton School Board and Food Service Department is pleased to invite all senior citizens who reside in Easton to join them for Christmas dinner in the elementary school cafeteria on Friday, Dec. 18 at 12:45 p.m. Please note this is a change from the original date of Dec. 17.
2016 Kiwanis calendars available
Easton Kiwanis Club’s Community Birthday Calendars have been ordered and will be coming soon. Because of a lack of personnel, many of their past customers were not contacted this year; but an ample supply of calendars will be available for purchase. The cost is $10. United Baptist Church announces upcoming programs
The United Baptist Church is hosting The Ultimate Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Easton Elementary School gym from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Children ages 5-12 are invited to a irthday party celebrating Jesus’s birth. There will be fun Christmas games, songs to sing, a Bible story about Jesus’ birth, and snacks. For more information, call Pastor Greg at 538-6079.
On Sunday, Dec. 20, the church is hosting a family Christmas movie night at 6 p.m. Bring your own popcorn. There will be a fellowship time to celebrate Jesus’ birthday after the movie. You are welcome and invited to join us for this special family-focused time.
The church will also hold its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and invite the public to this special service.
