Worcester gains pair of honors
Mackenzie Worcester was named both Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week in the North Atlantic Conference for the week ending Sunday.
She also picked up the Rookie of the Week honor for the New England Women’s Basketball Association.
Worcester, a freshman from Washburn, helped Husson University extend its win streak to four wins as the Eagles defeated two NAC opponents and are currently the only team that remains undefeated in conference play.
The guard averaged 17 points, five rebounds, four steals and 1.5 assists, while shooting 50 percent (12-of-24) from the field, 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from behind the arc, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
Worcester was extremely consistent on the week as she netted 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and earned four steals in both wins, as the Eagles defeated Colby-Sawyer, 69-45, and New England College, 72-62.
The 17-point performances were career-highs for Worcester, who is the daughter of Larry and Kim Worcester of Washburn. Her brother, Mitch, is a sophomore for the Husson men’s basketball team.
