4 Carlisle swimmers earn double wins
against Witches
BANGOR, Maine — The Carlisle swim team was back in action after a two-week break, taking on Brewer in an away meet.
The boys’ meet went to the Witches by just two points, 56-54, while the girls’ competition saw Brewer win by a more comfortable 93-68 margin.
Taking first place in two individual events for the Carlisle boys were Nate Gere in the 200 individual medley (2:25.98) and the 100 freestyle (56.87 seconds), Austin Scott in the 50 freestyle (24.97) and the 500 freestyle (5:47.7) and David Govoni in the 100 butterfly (1:20.81) and the 100 breaststroke (1:18.05). Leigh Buck won the 100 backstroke in 1:11.55.
Carlisle’s 200 medley relay team of Gere, Scott, Govoni and Buck also came in first in 1:56.57.
For the girls, coming in first individually in a pair of events was Madelyn Wing in the 200 free (2:14.94) and the 500 free (6:08.26).
Runner-up performances were turned in by Riley McNeal in the 200 free (3:11.3), Kyra Thibeault in the 200 I.M. (3:10.3) and the 100 fly (1:31.82), Libbee Currie in the 100 free (1:20.23), Abigail Espling in the 100 back (1:21.84) and Elizabeth Deschenes in the 100 breast (1:44.17).
All three relay teams captured second place — Espling, Deschenes, Wing and Thibeault in the 200 medley relay (2:28.64); Adriana Bither, Laura Doucette, McNeal and Deschenes in the 200 freestyle relay (2:34.16) and Wing, Espling, Currie and Thibeault in the 400 freestyle relay (4:56.21).
The squad is off this weekend but resumes its schedule Jan. 16 with a home meet against Old Town taking place at the Limestone Community School pool at 1 p.m.
