Library to host new book group
FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The Fort Fairfield Public Library has been selected by the Maine Humanities Council to offer “Let’s Talk About It,” a free reading and discussion group with copies of books available through the library.
The series The Mirror of Maine: The Maine Community in Myth and Reality will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 in the library’s community room, and continues for five monthly sessions, through May 28, 2016.
Books to be read and discussed in this series include: “A Maine Hamlet” by Lura Beam, “Wildfire Loose” by Joyce Butler and “Empire Falls” by Richard Russo.
This program is provided by the Maine Humanities Council’s Maine Center for the Book in cooperation with the Maine State Library. The council will provide the discussion facilitator.
“We find that there is great interest among adults in getting together to discuss what they’ve read with others,” said Nicole Rancourt, director of Let’s Talk About It. “Having a discussion leader who is both excited about the readings and skilled in facilitating can help to deepen this experience.”
Books for the program are available for loan at the library. Hillside IGA, a generous community partner of the Fort Fairfield Library, has donated bags for participants to carry their books and materials in.
There is a sign-up sheet located in the library. Call the library at 472-3880 for more information. The library is open Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. The group is limited to 15 individuals.
This program is offered to Maine libraries through the Maine Humanities Council in partnership with the Maine State Library.
