     BEATON, Charles D. “Chip” Sr., 61, EASTON, at Presque Isle, January 10, 2016. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements under the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

    EASTON – Charles D. “Chip” Beaton Sr., 61, husband of Laureen J. (Hutchins) Beaton, passed away Sunday morning, January 10, 2016, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born May 28, 1954, in Palmer, MA, the son of Duncan E. Jr. and Dorothy (Burns) Beaton.
American Flag Color    Chip served in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1983 aboard the troop carrier L.Y. Spear and also received a certificate in sheet metal fabrication from the Northern Maine Technical College, Presque Isle.
    He was married to Laureen J. Hutchins on June 4, 1988.
    Chip enjoyed reading, playing guitar and family vacations to his favorite spot, the White Mountains. He loved cats, but especially loved spending time with his children.
    Chip was predeceased by his father, Duncan E. Beaton Jr.; and two brothers, Mark and Paul Beaton.
    He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Laureen J. Beaton of Easton; one son, Charles D. “CJ” Beaton Jr. of Easton and his companion, Geena Sipkema; one daughter, Holly D. Beaton of Presque Isle and her companion, Nick Ellis. He also leaves behind his mother, Dorothy Beaton of Iowa City, IA; two sisters, Dawn E. Quelle and her husband, Frederick of Coralville, IA, and Debra A. Guiod of Houlton; Chip’s dear friend, Wade Ferris of Easton; several nieces and nephews.
    In keeping with Chip’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A service to celebrate his life with military honors was conducted at the chapel of the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 37 Lombard Road, Caribou, Friday January 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Sullivan officiating. Interment followed at the cemetery columbarium wall. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Beaton to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle.
