Probus Club learns of massage benefits
At their February 19, 2016 meeting, the Presque Isle Probus Club had massage therapist Diana Mains, LMT, APP, as their guest speaker.
Mains is a licensed massage and polarity therapist who graduated from the holistic massage program at Spa Tech Institute in Westbrook. She spoke about the benefits of massage therapy and body work for all ages.
Mains said massage helps to release muscular pain, improves circulation, increases flexibility and reduces stress, along with creating an overall sense of well-being. Her office is in Mars Hill.
Graydon Hemphill was the recipient of this year’s Probus scholarship for $750. This scholarship is always awarded to a worthy student attending Northern Maine Community College here in Presque Isle. Graydon is the son of Gregory and Kimberly Hemphill in Presque Isle.
Janet Snow gave a brief reading at the conclusion of the meeting. Her reading today was on the pros and cons of driving in one lane or passing into lanes that appear to be moving faster. Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, who appear in the program “Myth Busters,” did research in this area and found that time saved may vary from only two to 17 minutes with the unnecessary lane change. Their point is, “Is it worth it”?
After the business meeting, President Dana Crory adjourned the proceedings at 11:15 a.m.
The next meeting will be held on March 17 in NMCC’s Reed Commons.
