PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Central Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a public meeting to gather and prioritize local natural resource concerns in central Aroostook County on Wednesday, March 9, from 4-6 p.m.
The session is slated at the USDA Service Center. Participants will discuss what steps should be taken to address concerns identified during the meeting. Landowners, land users, conservation groups, resource agency representatives and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
The results of this meeting will shape the long range plans of the CASWCD and the Maine Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). This is a statewide effort, and each SWCD is undertaking the same process to develop a natural resource assessment that will better inform the Local Work Group decision-making process, guide potential use of federal funds, and help Districts with developing programs and educational outreach.
Focuses will include cropland, pasture land, forests, water, wildlife habitat, urban, energy, farmstead headquarters and livestock area management, among others.
Refreshments will be provided. RSVP to Kassy Michaud at the CASWCD at 764-4153 by March 7.
