     102 Years Ago – March 5, 1914

    Organization of the Aroostook wholesale grocery company — February 12, 1914, will be recalled by those cognizant of the business development of Aroostook as being memorable on account of the incorporation of the first straight wholesale grocery business in the county.
    Training school wins championship — The Aroostook State Normal Training school basketball team won the Northern Aroostook Grammar School League championship Saturday night at Caribou by defeating the Caribou Grammar School team by a score of 29 to 7.

75 Years Ago – March 6, 1941

    Northern Maine Scout rally to be held at PIHS — Aroostook Scouts attending the annual Katahdin Council Scout Leaders University at Squa Pan Lake Saturday, voted to stage the 1941 Northern Maine District Scout rally at PIHS Saturday, March 22, when the winning troops of five sectional rallies will compete for top council honors.
    Mooseleuk Club entertains basketball squad — The P.I. Basketball team and coach, William Hanscom, were accorded a testimonial supper last night by the Mooseleuk Club. Following supper, the honored guests spent a pleasant time bowling.

50 Years Ago – March 10, 1966

    PIHS takes two rounds at Columbia debate tourney — A two-man switch-side debate team composed of Warren Silver and Terry Cooney participated in the Columbia University Secondary School Invitational Debate Tournament March 5 in New York. They were accompanied by their coach, Mrs. Nanabelle Carter.
    PI Garden Club — The PI Garden Club will open its season with a picnic luncheon at the Maine Public Service Center and 1 p.m., March 17. Program, the Garden Club Federation’s collection of slides showing outstanding gardens of Maine.

25 Years Ago – March 6, 1991

    Business help Jerry’s Kids — The Daigle Oil Company and Channel X Radio have recently entered into a joint effort to help Jerry Lewis in the fight against Muscular Dystrophy. Bright green shamrocks available for a small donation of $1-$5.
    Blue Cross to reopen Presque Isle office — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine will reopen its Presque Isle customer service office in approximately three months, contingent upon securing necessary office space and completion of a comprehensive customer service training session.
