Local man pleads guilty
to Aroostook County drug conspiracy
BANGOR, Maine — A Presque Isle man waived indictment and pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court to a drug charge in connection with a conspiracy to distribute bath salts in northern Maine.
By pleading guilty, Andrew Grivois, 32, admitted that between Jan. 1, 2012, and June 1, 2014, he and others, who were not named in court documents, bought the drug from China over the Internet.
Members of the conspiracy, including Grivois, then repackaged the bath salts into smaller amounts for resale, according to the prosecution version of events to which he pleaded guilty.
Grivois pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute bath salts.
A sentencing date has not been set.
Grivois is being held without bail pending sentencing. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
