Hotshot champs headed to States

    CARIBOU, Maine The Northern Regional for the Maine Red Claws/Maine Recreation and Parks Association Hotshot basketball program was held Feb. 17, 2016 and the top two finishers from seven age divisions have advanced to the state finals, set for March 13 at the Portland Expo.

    Each participant competed in three, one-minute rounds, accumulating points with successful shots from five spots on the floor as well as layups, with bonus points collected for attempting shots from all five spots during a round.
Advancing among the 61 youths participating were: ages 9-10 girls: Madelyn Deprey, Caribou, 60 points; Amelia Godin, Caribou, 55; and Macayla Carney, Ashland, 55; ages 9-10 boys: Dawson Beaulieu, Presque Isle, 111; and Alex Belanger, Caribou, 95.
Ages 11-12 girls: Faith Sjoberg, Presque Isle, 121; and Eva Callioras, Easton, 80; ages 11-12 boys: Sawyer Deprey, Caribou, 116; and Camden Michaud, Easton, 104.
Ages 13-15 girls: Amber Chasse, Ashland, 102; and Skylar Mette, Washburn, 98; ages 13-15 boys: Parker Deprey, Caribou, 140; and Jake Berkoski, Caribou, 137.
Ages 16-18 girls: Rachel Soucy, Caribou, 80.
