Teachers join Wintergreen staff
PRESQUE ISLE — The Wintergreen Arts Center of Presque Isle has announced the addition of two new teachers for some of its popular programs.
Joanna Doughty | Melanie Junkins |
Featured artist of the month Joanna Doughty has been named instructor for both “Mini Monet” and homeschooler classes. Melanie Junkins joins the staff as teacher for the “Toddle-In Time” sessions.
Doughty graduated in 2010 from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a bachelor in fine arts, concentrating in sculpture and painting. She currently resides in Presque Isle with her husband.
Mini Monet is described as a hands-on class for children ages 3-6, introducing them to the fundamentals of art with emphasis on “fun.” The classes meet Monday mornings from 9:30-11 a.m.
The center’s class for homeschoolers is designed to augment home curricula with a focus on creativity. Lessons are held monthly and teach principles of art, “with a focus on empowering individual thought processes,” center officials said.
Junkins is currently completing her education degree at UMPI. She resides in Presque Isle with her husband and two children.
Toddle-In Time provides artistic playtime for the youngest patrons. Toddlers are invited to explore creative efforts in a safe and nurturing environment. This class meets Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11 a.m.
