Washburn man charged
WASHBURN, Maine — A Washburn man has been charged with allegedly downloading pornographic photos of minors to his computer.
Daniel Roy, 21, was arrested March 15 and charged with possession of sexually explicit material, a felony, Maine State Police Sgt. Josh Haines said in a statement released Thursday.
The sergeant said that in November 2015, law enforcement became aware of sexually explicit images of minors that Roy had allegedly downloaded to his computer.
The state police Computer Crimes Unit and Department of Homeland Security Investigations in Houlton worked together on the case to identify Roy, Haines reported.
Roy was able to post bail. As a condition of his release, he is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 16.
His next court appearance is scheduled for May 5, 2016 in Caribou.
