Easton town meeting scheduled

    Easton’s 2016 town meeting will be held Monday, April 4, 2016. Polls for elections of selectmen and school board members will be open from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Easton Town Office.

The open town meeting begins at 8 p.m. at the Easton Elementary School cafeteria. Those attending should bring a town report.

Easton prepares for pageant

    The 2016 Easton pageant is well underway. This year’s contestants are Little Miss contestant Ashton Embelton, Tiny Miss contestant Allison Bate, Pre-Teen contestant Amelia Bate, Teen Miss contestant Anna-Marie Tompkins, Miss contestant Breann Clayton and Jr. Miss contestant Alysa Lamoreau.
The current queens are 2015 Little Miss Easton Chloe Lento, 2015 Pre-Teen Miss Easton Makenzie Kinney, 2015 Miss Easton Madison Shaw. The pageant is April 23, 2016 at the Easton High School at 7:00PM. The cost is general admission for $7.00.

Elementary school names students of the quarter

    Linux Lockhart is a first grader at Easton Elementary School and is the son of Logan Lockhart. Linux is a great school citizen and comes to school with a positive attitude. He is always willing to help his classmates and teachers. He is a quiet and kind young boy who gets along well with his peers.
Congratulations also goes out to Hayden Keep. She is the daughter of Andy and Renee Keep. Hayden does a great job following school rules. She is a very kind and caring young lady who is well liked by her teachers and fellow students. She always has a smile and is willing to help others.
Grace Flewellling, the daughter of Brent and Sandy Flewelling, is a fifth grader at EES. Grace is a helpful, kind and hard working student at Easton Elementary. She is very conscientious about her grades. She is a respectful young lady and stays very busy being involved with extra-curricular activities.

Winter Fun Day held

    On March 11, the Easton Elementary School held its annual “Winter Fun Day.” Approximately 100 students from Kindergarten to sixth grade were bused to the Francis Malcolm Science Center to snowshoe, using equipment from the Perloff Foundation Grant.
Back at the school, students had the opportunity to try cross country skiing, using equipment provided by the Maine Winter Sports Center. The children enjoyed cookies, hot chocolate, fun in the snow, board games, a session of WII Dancing, and some arts and crafts to complete the day. Thanks to all who helped make this a wonderful day for the students.

Easton Junior-Senior High students gain awards

    Students of the month for December 2015 at Easton High School were: Mitchell Flewelling and Miranda McLean. Starting off the new year right were Matigan Dow and Kathleen Haney, who were honorees for January 2016 and the most recent award winners for February were Savannah Guess and Elise Allen.
Alexis Pelkey was the winner of the local geography bee and advanced to the state meet to be held Friday, April 1.

Adult trips planned by rec department

    On Thursday, March 31, the group will visit Maple Moose and eat lunch at Boondocks. The Kings always treat as royalty and have a sweet treat for us. Participants are responsible for their own lunch. Departure from the Manor is at 11 a.m.
On Thursday, April 7, the group will make the annual excursion for a maple syrup breakfast in Florenceville, New Brunswick. This year, they will be going back to Sugar Moon Cookhouse. It will include an all-you-can-eat breakfast (for lunch) including pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, coffee, juice and tea. The cost of $12.50 includes the meal and taxes. You must have either your passport/passport card or a driver’s license and birth certificate to cross the border. Departure time from the Manor is at 9:45 a.m.
