Turner marks 100th birthday

 WASHBURN NEWS

A birthday honoring Bert Turner was held at the State Road Advent Church on March 5.

He was born March 3, 1916. In 1916 WWI was being fought, Charlie Chaplin was in the movies and a stamp cost only 2 cents.
The birthday party was given by his friends and family. All enjoyed a baked bean supper, followed by cake and ice cream. Two cakes depicting a farm were made by Ardis Humphrey. Guests were entertained by Wendell and Dale Hudson of Mapleton. Special vocalists Kathie Davis and Donna Turner accompanied the duo on a special request from the guest of honor.
Those attending from out of town were Lorraine and Mike McMullen of Fairpoint, N.Y.; Tony and Sharon Bernette, Chase and Reagan of LaPlata, Md.; Tyler and Julie Turner and Rylie and Dana McKay of Standish; and James and Nancy Libby of Bangor.
